In anticipation of the launch of The Sex Issue, we brought together 5 extraordinary contributors to the magazine for a discussion of 'SEX: myth-making and taboo'. The panellists included sex worker Melina Antunes, sex and disability advisor Alex Cowan, maker and curator of feminist porn Petra Joy and founder of My Body Back Pavan Amara, an initiative to help rape survivors reclaim their sexuality. Our chair was Dr Meg John Barker, a sex and relationship therapist and senior lecturer in psychology at the Open University. The result was an honest, funny and explosive discussion of the stigma and stereotypes that surround disability, rape, sex work and porn – the challenges we face as a society and the progress we have made.
